“ I should have written a review long ago a we've been to the "new" Highland House probably twenty times in the past couple of years. I don't have any negatives at all to write about. Service is always top notch and the food is excellent. I love soups and here can be found some of the best, especially the clam chowder on Fridays. I had cream of mushroom the other night and it was just delicious. So is the pasta fazool, minestrone...all of them. I have had so many offerings from the menu. My favorite is the fried lake perch, but the fish and chips and white fish are also wonderful. Whitefish is their signature dish, but there are other unique dishes. The roasted cauliflower steak is different, not particularly to my taste, nor is the lamb burger, but both are because of the toppings. I should have looked more closely. Boasted chicken, absolutely the best anywhere. Wonderful steak, always perfectly cooked. I've tried the chicken piccata and Marsala, both excellent. My wife enjoys the salads, as do I , and the pasta dishes. Provençal shrimp and scallop fettuccini is my favorite pasta dish, but they're all good. Liver and onions, yum! I'm going to start on the sandwich portion of the menu soon and see what they're like, but I'm guessing there will be no disappointment. So far, I've only had the Roscoe burger and it was cooked exactly the way I like it (rare to medium rare). That's difficult to find anywhere. I can't say enough good about the staff. They are professional, timely, friendly, and very helpful. My wife and I both wanted the boasted chicken dinners ($25 each) a couple of weeks ago and placed our orders. Our waitress, Leslie returned with a huge salad bowl and explained that she had changed the order to chicken dinner for two. That way, we each get salad and a side and it's $19 less if ordered that way. And a big platter of delicious chicken. We were most appreciative and reflected so in our tip. So many great waitresses, they work hard and it shows. Next, sandwiches, then we'll try a pizza! They look really good. ”
